For the Love of a Dog

Animal welfare advocates in Madison County need some help. Authorities have rescued 51 dogs who are part of a hoarding case. A 78-year old woman apparently picked up stray and lost dogs and brought them to her home, and it just got to be too much for her to handle.

If you’ve lost a dog in the last few years around Madison County, check in with the animal shelter. They’re trying to reunite families with their lost pets, and it’s possible your furry friend may be waiting to see you.

Can you help? Donations of dog food, blankets, dog toys and more are needed along with monetary donations. Just housing the dogs until they can be adopted out is expensive so anything you can do is greatly appreciated. There’s a wish list set up on Amazon so you can shop online and have it sent directly to the shelter.

They’re looking for volunteers, too, to help staff the temporary location where these sweet dogs are being housed. You can volunteer for a two-hour shift here.
