Free Plants!

Looking for plants for your garden? Head to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 10 N. Liberty Street, Saturday morning for the 5th annual Great Plant Giveaway, 9 am to noon.

This is a really cool community project that was started by a group of neighbors who love to garden. They’d thin their gardens, have extra plants, share them with friends, family, neighbors and it grew from there. This is the 5th year and organizer Leanne Shearouse says they have over 1600 plants to give away, everything from veggies to perennials.

No donations are accepted. This is just a gift of love from these happy gardeners to you. However, this year they have invited Our Voice to be on site – that’s the local nonprofit that helps victims of sexual assault. If you’d like to make a donation to them, that’s great – but again, it’s not required.

Oh, and if you get there sooner than later, they’re serving up strawberry sundaes – also free – while they last.
