Hot New Spots to Chow Down!

Asheville’s hot food scene is always changing, and this month is bringing some new local players to the table while we’re also saying goodbye to another.

Let’s start with the goodbye. Ambrosia in north Asheville is closing its doors after this weekend. Reopening in the same place toward the end of May will be a third location of the super popular Early Girl Eatery. As a north Asheville resident, I’m doing the happy dance since we’ll have easier access to that delicious down home southern comfort food experience. And since it’s a stone’s throw from Beaver Lake, we’ll all be able to walk off some of those calories afterwards!

Opening this weekend at 3 Biltmore Avenue is The Wine & Oyster. You may already be familiar with their food; they’ve had a location in Biltmore Village. This location gives them more parking and visibility plus it puts them right in the middle of the thriving downtown food scene. The owners sat down recently for an interview to talk about their plans.

Now let’s go west. Now open right next door to Asheville’s one and only axe-throwing bar is Sawhorse and heading up the kitchen is a fellow who was the sous chef at Buxton Hall – which you probably already know is an awesome place to eat! Dan Silo is promising a hearty fair, including meat pies and cat head biscuits.
