Rusty’s Legacy – Domino & Scrappy

Who will take care of your pet if you can’t?

It’s not something that we like to think about, I know. Yet, our pets are fully dependent on us.  I’m sure if Domino & Scrappy could talk they’d tell you how very important it is that we consider the long term future of our beautiful companions.

Domino was so cherished by her human. This sweet dog enjoyed being loved and giving love. And then one day her human was gone. And Domino’s fate was left in the hands of strangers who didn’t want the responsibility and who didn’t have the resources.

When 8-year old sweetheart started losing weight and developing a skin condition, those looking after her chalked it up to grief. They didn’t have the resources to investigate it. So, the problem festered. And sweet Domino, the girl who once had been so cherished, continued to suffer from a case of mange that went from bad to worse. One look at her breaks my heart. Thankfully better days are ahead for her.

Because of Rusty’s Legacy, a small yet powerful non-profit dedicated to saving animals in danger, Domino is on the path to recovery. The wonderful folks at Open Door Veterinary Care are taking care of her medical needs. A foster family is loving her back to health. It’ll be a long, costly journey. And it’ll take all of us working together to give this sweet angel a peaceful and happy second chance at life.

See why I’m asking you to think about who will take care of your dog or cat when you can’t?

Scrappy is a 4-year old shih tzu who ended up in the care of someone who couldn’t take care of him. His case is so heartbreaking I can’t even look at the picture of him without crying. I’m not putting a picture of him here, either. It’s too awful.

Thankfully, this beautiful creature has been saved and his journey to a better life has started. It’s going to be expensive; his list of troubles is long. The good news is that it’s all treatable. And one day this sweet, kind soul will be in a loving home again.

I’m sure those who loved these babies would never have wanted their pets to end up in this mess of misery. Talk to your friends & family today, please. Hopefully you’ll never need that plan. What is that saying… better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Domino & Scrappy couldn’t agree more. I’m pretty sure I just heard them whisper Amen.

Want to help Domino & Scrappy on their journey to a happier, healthier life?  100% of your donation to Rusty’s Legacy will be used to provide for their care. This organization is doing such important work, and I appreciate so much your support of them.
