See Stars & Stories!

There are a couple of great things happening locally that you can do with your kiddos right now.

  1. Check out a telescope from the Oakley/South Asheville library! This is so cool. Just go online to put a hold on one; when you’re notified it’s available, you swing by and pick it up curbside. And if you need help like I do finding the constellations, download the Night Sky app. Also, keep an eye out for the Neowise Comet; it’s visible through mid August.  By the way, you do need a library card and if you don’t have one, you can get it online here.
  2. Take the kids for a stroll down Story Lane in Asheville’s Montford Community. Neighbors on Montview Drive are creating posters with pages of favorite childhood books and you can read the story with your kids by walking from one yard to another. All are visible from the sidewalk so no worries about social distancing. And at the last house you’ll find a worksheet to do with your kiddo to talk about your experience.  FREE.
