ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department arrested two men on drug trafficking charges just past midnight today, Sept. 2.
Around 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, APD officers responded to a call for a welfare check on two sleeping men in a vehicle in West Asheville. Upon arrival, officers found Travis Daniel Fowler, 28, and Jacob Lloyd Holt, 34, asleep in a vehicle matching the description in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the 30 block of Cordova Street. Drug paraphernalia was visible inside the vehicle.
After waking the two men by knocking on the window, officers seized 13 grams of fentanyl. Holt and Fowler were arrested without incident.
Fowler was served with open warrants and charged with:
- One felony count of trafficking in opium
- One felony count of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver Schedule II
- One felony count of manufacture/sell/deliver/possess within 1000 feet of park
- One felony count of manufacture/sell/deliver/possess within 1000 feet of school
- One misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia
Fowler was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $160,500 secured bond issued by a magistrate.
Holt was served with open warrants and charged with:
- One felony count of trafficking in opium
- One felony count of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver Schedule II
- One felony count of manufacture/sell/deliver/possess within 1000 feet of park
- One felony count of manufacture/sell/deliver/possess within 1000 feet of school
- One misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia
Holt was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $161,000 secured bond issued by a magistrate.
