FLETCHER, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Regional Airport has introduced a new pick-up location for ride-hailing app users and taxi riders, accessible by walking or riding the AVL shuttle.

New pick-up place for Uber, Lyft, taxi

The new pick-up area made its debut on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, as part of “AVL’s planned efforts to improve the passenger experience while maintaining safe, secure and efficient roadway operations,” the airport said in a press release.

The new location is a six-minute walk to the south of baggage claim and the new AVL rental car center, though passengers may also take any AVL shuttle from the terminal curb to the ride-hailing pick-up lot. Shuttle tracking is available through the Passio GO! app or on the AVL website.

The new pick-up lot is the latest step in the AVL Forward construction initiative at the airport.

“Our passengers are at the center of the decisions we make throughout our AVL Forward construction project,” said Lew Bleiweis, AVL president and CEO. “I know the passenger experience has been difficult at times, so it is good to reach this new phase of the project. We’re focused on making the journey through AVL as convenient and intuitive as possible.”

Drop-off for ride-hailing services and taxis, meanwhile, will still be available at the curb in front of the ticket lobby or at the AVL rental car center.
