ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police are investigating after a Flock Safety license plate reader was damaged over the weekend.
Officers responded around 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, to the area of West Chapel Road near London Road after receiving a report that a Flock camera had been damaged, Asheville Police Department spokesman Rick Rice said.
When officers arrived, they found that the pole supporting the camera had been cut, Rice said.
The incident remains under investigation. APD did not provide additional information about who may have cut the pole or whether any arrests have been made.
The Flock camera is part of a network of automated license plate readers used by APD to help identify vehicles and investigate crimes.
