ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Irvin Franklin Freeman, 46, was sentenced to 70-93 months in a North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Facility after he pled guilty to methamphetamine trafficking and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The conviction followed an Aug. 20, 2025, operation, where United States Marshals Service and Asheville Police Department officers went to Freeman’s residence on Short Michigan Avenue in West Asheville during an attempt to locate a wanted fugitive.

At the West Asheville residence, officers discovered over 500 grams of meth, a .380-caliber pistol and a shotgun.

Under North Carolina law, the possession of more than 200 grams of meth falls under Class F felony drug trafficking. The felony carries strict sentencing guidelines and a mandatory $50,000 fine upon conviction.

Freeman was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Steve Warren and administered the fine.
