ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Buncombe County Helene Resource Center will soon shift to an appointment-only format as recovery from Tropical Storm Helene continues, officials announced.

The center at 94 Coxe Ave. will close March 27, and appointments will be scheduled through the One Buncombe Call Center at 828-250-6100. Services will be coordinated through the Helene Recovery Office at 200 College St. in Asheville.

Since opening April 8, 2025, the resource center has served more than 1,400 storm survivors in person, connecting them with federal, state and local partners to provide timely support.

“This transition is another step in our community’s recovery,” Helene Recovery Officer Kevin Madsen said in a statement. “With this new format, we’re able to ensure a close alignment with our recently formed Helene Recovery Office and our partners serving Buncombe County survivors with disaster case management. While it will look slightly different, we are continuing the efforts to support our community.”

The One Buncombe Call Center remains open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information on Helene recovery resources and the Helene Recovery Plan, click here.
