KOA announces grand reopening of Swannanoa campground

SWANNANOA, N.C. (828newsNOW) –– A year after closing due to the impact of Hurricane Helene, Kampgrounds of America, Inc. will reopen their Asheville East KOA Holiday campground in Swannanoa, N.C.

The milestone event, cohosted with the Black Mountain-Swannanoa Chamber of Commerce, will be marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, refreshments and campground tours. The celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, at Asheville East KOA Holiday, 2708 US-70, Swannanoa.

Local and KOA leaders will be in attendance at the ribbon-cutting, including Toby O’Rourke, KOA president and CEO, Doug Wisz, executive director of Asheville East KOA Holiday, and Cheryl Hyde, executive director of the Black Mountain-Swannanoa chamber.

“While this grand reopening marks an important return for campers, the Asheville East KOA Holiday will continue enhancing its grounds and facilities as part of a long-term restoration effort,” KOA wrote in a press release.
