ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — For nearly four decades, the world of Arts and Crafts has convened at The Omni Grove Park Inn in North Asheville for an all-out conference. The 39th annual National Arts & Crafts Conference and Shows will be held this weekend, Feb. 20-22, at the famous hotel.

What you need to know about the Arts & Crafts Conference

The Grove Park Inn conference is for anyone involved in Arts and Crafts, from collectors and curators to designers and builders.

The historical Arts and Crafts movement began in Britain in the late 19th century and spread throughout Europe and North America in the first few decades of the 20th century. Much of the conference is dedicated to work created during or inspired by the period.

“If you’ve ever admired the Grove Park Inn’s interiors and exteriors, you’re already a fan of the Arts and Crafts style,” said conference director Kate Nixon. “Collectors and enthusiasts alike can expect to discover and buy vintage antiques as well as handcrafted contemporary items in the Arts and Crafts style including new and antique jewelry, rugs, furniture, pottery and tiles, artwork, furniture and metalware, showcasing hand craftsmanship and simple yet elegant designs.”

According to ArtsAVL, the Asheville area arts council, the event revolves around educating arts and crafts collectors.

“Education of the Arts and Crafts collector has been the goal of the annual gathering since the beginning. The event is unique for its full range of offerings for the passionate collector and those interested in the Arts and Crafts period,” the council wrote in an Arts AVL post. “The three-day agenda includes lectures, small group discussions, special exhibitions, book exhibits, a contemporary crafts show and the finest of the antiques shows devoted to the Arts and Crafts period.”

There are three options for conference tickets:

  1. General admission tickets for exploring the 100+ exhibitor booths at the event are $10 at the door
  2. The $175 Conference Events Pass offers entry to the exhibition shows, all of the seminars, demonstrations, tours and exhibits and a few other exclusive materials
  3. Those who wish to stay at the Grove Park Inn and participate in every single aspect of the weekend may purchase the $850+ Arts & Crafts Weekend Package
