ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Thousands of demonstrators gathered in downtown Asheville on Saturday in coordinated protests against President Donald Trump and what organizers called his increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption.

The “No Kings” rally, organized by Indivisible Asheville/WNC, began at Martin Luther King Jr. Park and included a march to Pack Square Park.

Participants traveled from across Western North Carolina and the Southeast to attend the demonstration, which featured speeches, chants and symbolic acts of protest.

A separate but related protest, organized by the activist group Good Trouble WNC, took place at Pack Square Park under the banner “No Clowns, No Kings!”

Organizers said the events were part of a broader grassroots movement aimed at resisting authoritarianism and defending democratic principles.
