ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Several school districts across the region announced closures and delays Thursday as snow and icy conditions made travel unsafe for students and staff.

Those districts include:

Avery County Schools: Two-hour delay
Buncombe County Schools (Enka and Erwin districts): Remote learning day/optional teacher work day
Graham County Schools: Two-hour delay
Haywood County Schools: Remote learning day/optional teacher work day
Madison County Schools: Closed/optional teacher work day
Mayland Community College: Remote learning day
Mitchell County Schools: Closed/teacher work day
Mountain Discovery Charter School: Two-hour delay
Southwestern Community College: Two-hour delay
Swain County Schools: Two-hour delay
Yancey County Schools: Closed/teacher work day
