ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Heavy smoke blanketed the area along Riverside Drive on Friday morning, prompting concern from residents and commuters.

The smoke appeared to be coming from the Riverside Stump Dump. As of Friday morning, it was not immediately clear whether an active fire was burning at the site.

828newsNOW has contacted the Asheville Fire Department and representatives of Riverside Stump Dump for confirmation and additional details. No further information was immediately available.
