ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A teen accused in the May killings of her mother, father and grandmother appeared in Buncombe County Superior Court on Wednesday for her first in-person court hearing since a grand jury returned indictments in the case.

Star Grant and co-defendant Devan O’Neal Loving, 28, were scheduled to make routine first appearances Monday following the indictments, but those proceedings were delayed as the case moved through its early post-indictment phase.

A Buncombe County grand jury indicted Grant and Loving on June 2 on three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Grant’s parents and grandmother.

Investigators say the three victims were found shot and stabbed inside a Fairview home in May. Court documents list the offenses as occurring May 1, 2026, with arrest-related filings entered May 13.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Grant was formally advised of the charges and her rights reviewed.

Grant appeared with court-appointed public defender Doug Edwards. Court records indicate she is being held without bond at the Alexander Juvenile Detention Center.

The case remains in its early stages following indictment, with additional proceedings expected to be scheduled in Buncombe County Superior Court.
