ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Arbor Day observance, a grilled cheese-themed art market and an Italian ice birthday bash are all on our activity calendar for this weekend. Find more things to do in the roundup below.

Friday, April 10

Head for a hike at Fryingpan Mountain Lookout Tower

Fryingpan Mountain Lookout Tower is a decommissioned U.S. Forest Service firewatch station along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The 70-foot tower climb is one of the most iconic hikes in Western North Carolina. Read more in our hiking guide.

Go see “The Drama” – Now playing in theaters

Robert Pattinson and Zendaya star in “The Drama,” a new twisty romance from A24. In the days before Pattinson and Zendaya’s characters are married, a shocking secret is revealed, causing turmoil in their relationship, social scene and professional lives.

Saturday, April 11

Stroll through the Black Mountain Tailgate Market – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., downtown Black Mountain, N.C.

This Saturday, the Black Mountain Tailgate Market will have a grilled cheese theme. Expect all the usual artisans, vendors and concessions, but with an added cheesy focus, including a grilled cheese sandwich demo.

Check out the art at RAD Sip & Shop – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., River Arts District

The River Arts District will host the April rendition of its Second Saturdays series this weekend. Studios throughout the district will be open to the public, with many hosting wine and beer tastings, as well as live music.

Plant a tree at the RAD Arbor Day celebration – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Craven Street Boat Launch, 192 Riverside Dr.

This Saturday, Asheville residents are invited to celebrate Arbor Day in the River Arts District, planting trees, receiving seedlings and learning to care for local ecosystems at a free riverside celebration. Read more about the event in our story here.

Eat a frozen treat at Jeremiah’s Italian Ice Four Year Anniversary Party – Noon to 11 p.m., 705 Merrimon Ave.

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice in North Asheville will mark its fourth birthday with a half-off discount all day long. Those looking for a tasty treat can stop by for discounted Italian ice in tadpole, small and medium sizes, as well as free face painting and balloon twisting from 1-5 p.m.
