Friday, Feb. 20

39th Annual National Arts & Crafts Conference & Shows – The Omni Grove Park Inn

For nearly four decades, the world of arts and crafts has convened at The Omni Grove Park Inn in North Asheville for an all-out conference. The 39th annual Arts & Crafts Conference and Shows will be held this weekend, Feb. 20-22, at the famous hotel. Read more in our story here.

Hike Glassy Mountain – Carl Sandburg Home, Flat Rock

Glassy Mountain is the resident peak of the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, the preserved farm and house of the famed poet located in Flat Rock, N.C. Saturday, Feb. 21

Lunar New Year Taproom Celebration – 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Highland Brewing, 12 Old Charlotte Hwy.

Highland Brewing will mark the start of the Lunar New Year with a weekend-long celebration of the Year of the Fire Horse. The annual Highland Brewing celebration is tradition rooted in the Asian-American heritage of Oscar Wong, the late founder of Highland Brewing. Asheville Princess Day – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, 1 Resort Dr.

Asheville’s little prince and princesses are invited out to Crowne Plaza Asheville to meet all their favorite princesses. The 90-minute sessions are packed full of photo opportunities, songs, dances, crafts and group activities. Find tickets here.

UNC Asheville Homecoming – University of North Carolina Asheville

Sunday, Feb. 22

Steps for the Heart: Community Walk to Celebrate Heart Month – 2-4 p.m., Blue Ridge Mall, 1800 4 Seasons Blvd., Hendersonville

This weekend, walk with your community in a celebration of healthy heart education at the Blue Ridge Mall in Hendersonville, N.C. The event will feature giveaways, tips and more, no registration required. Read more in our story here.

National Margarita Day celebration – 2-8 p.m., The Mule at Devil’s Foot Beverage, 131 Sweeten Creek Road.

The Mule boasts the biggest National Margarita Day bash in town. Their celebration will feature live band karaoke by The Pubsters, a sugar and salt scavenger hunt around the cocktail bar and a free cheeseburger “Buffett” in collaboration with Hickory Nut Gap Farm. “Close Quarters” – 2 p.m., Lamplight AVL, 821 Haywood Road

“Close Quarters” is a new work of experimental, interactive and occasionally improvisational theater from Phantom Lamp Theatre Company. The show follows the haunting of a couple’s apartment, adding the audience in as ghosts. Find tickets here.
