Contra Dancing in Hot Springs – 7:30-10 p.m., Pine Hall, 64 S. Spring St., Hot Springs
3rd Friday contra dancing returns to Hot Springs this weekend. The community folk dance event is led by Charley Harvey, with music by Art Schuster on mandolin and Paul Moore on keyboard. Entry is $10 a pop and no partner is necessary.
Resale Clothing Extravaganza – Noon, Ella Asheville, 49 Broadway St.
The Booth Fairy returns to Asheville for a massive vintage clothing pop-up. The event will sport vintage clothing of all shapes and sizes for sale, in addition to a “bad advice booth,” tarot readings, dog accessories and “gluten-free hugs.” The Extravaganza will be held over the course of four days. Watch “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” – Now playing in theaters
The latest installment of the “28 Days Later” zombie movie is the direct sequel to last year’s terrific “28 Years Later.” In “The Bone Temple,” director Nia DaCosta centers Ralph Fiennes’s death-obsessed Dr. Kelson, the proprietor of the titular Bone Temple, and his work to understand the infected. At the same time, Spike, the young protagonist from the first film played by Alfie Williams, contends with a blonde-wigged cult led by “Sinners” villain Jack O’Connell. Review coming soon.

Plant Bingo with Sprout & Bloom – 5 p.m., The Mule at Devil’s Foot Beverage, 131 Sweeten Creek Road
$15 earns you two bingo cards and 10 rounds of “plant bingo,” an opportunity to win house plant prizes from local plant people Sprout & Bloom. The Mule event is open to all ages.
Asheville Winter Festival – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Crowne Plaza Resort Asheville, 1 Resort Dr.
Bachata and salsa dancers from all over the world will convene at Crowne Plaza Resort this weekend for Asheville Winter Festival, a three day celebration of dance. Participants will be able to take part in over 30 different classes and workshops, as well as watch professional dancers, participate in socials and attend themed parties. Find more information here.
Winter Market – 1 p.m., The Whale West Asheville, 507 Haywood Road
The Whale West Asheville will host a tropical winter market this Saturday, featuring over 10 different local vendors, a DJ spinning vinyl, hot chocolate, a specialty tiki cocktail from St. Rains Cannabis Drinks and several craft beer options, in addition to non-alcoholic alternatives for Dry January observers.

Mt. Silver TCG Asheville Card Show – 10 a.m., Asheville Mall, 3 S. Tunnel Road
Card game fans, including, but certainly not limited to, “Pokémon” and “Magic: The Gathering” players and sports card collectors, are invited to the Asheville Mall this weekend for the first Mt. Silver TCG card show of 2026. Card and collectible vendors of all sorts will be present at the event.
Explore the South Slope Mural Trail – Begins at 77 Coxe Ave.
Take a walking tour of one of the most colorful districts of downtown Asheville with the South Slope Mural Trail. The route, which runs about two miles total, weaves through Asheville’s South Slope, providing access to a living art gallery in addition to window shopping at more than a few breweries and restaurants. Local horror movie buff and trivia host Cagney Larkin continues his series of free, mystery horror movies this Sunday. The screening, held in the game room at Asheville Pizza, is always a secret right up until the lights go down. Prepare to be scared!
