Two crashes snarl traffic on Sweeten Creek Road in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Two separate crashes shut down lanes along Sweeten Creek Road near Arden on Tuesday morning, backing up traffic during the early commute, according to NCDOT.

The first crash was reported around 7:46 a.m. on U.S. 25 Alternate near Carrington Place in Asheville, where the northbound lane was closed. NCDOT listed the expected traffic impact as high, with the closure expected to last until about 8:46 a.m.

A second crash was reported minutes later at 7:54 a.m. near Buck Shoals Road in Arden. Both lanes were closed at that location, also creating significant delays. That closure was expected to be cleared by 9 a.m.

No details about injuries were immediately available.
