LEICESTER, N.C. (828newsNOW) — More lights and sirens. This time, crews were rushing to fire off Mink Farm Road.
The North Carolina Forest Service Wildfire map listed the fire as 2 acres and o percent contained as of 2:40 p.m. By 6:35 p.m., it was listed as 50 acres and still not contained.
An emergency alert from Buncombe County Emergency Services reported the wildfire at 15 Freedon Farm Road and Mink Farm Road a little after 1 p.m.
Please avoid the area.
Nearby residents are urged to prepare to evacuate in the event of dangerous fire behavior.
Buncombe County is under a Red Flag Warning as increased fire danger continues because of gusty winds and low relative humidity. Burn bans remain in place for both Carolinas.
