Your guide to the Asheville city services closed for Thanksgiving

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — In observance of Thanksgiving, city of Asheville offices and a select few services will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, including the Asheville Rides Transit bus system, Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville and the WNC Nature Center.

What will be closed

ART bus service

ART buses will not run on Thursday, Nov. 27. Find the full holiday bus schedule in English, Spanish or Russian.

Asheville Municipal Golf & Disc Golf Course

The Asheville Municipal golf courses will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 but will reopen on Friday, Nov. 28.

Aston Park Tennis Center

The Aston Park tennis courts will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 before reopening Friday, Nov. 28. The final day of the 2025 tennis season will be Sunday, Nov. 30, after which the 2026 season will begin on April 1.

Community centers

All community centers and administrative offices will be closed Nov. 27-28, but outdoor features such as playgrounds, picnic areas and sports courts at the centers will be open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

Harrah’s Cherokee Center

The box office at Harrah’s Cherokee Center will be closed Nov. 27-28, but will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Trash and recycling collection

Both trash and recycling pickup will be suspended Thursday, Nov. 27. Regularly scheduled Thursday waste pickup will be collected Friday, Nov. 28 instead.

WNC Nature Center

The WNC Nature Center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27.
